Abstract

|
Four cases of traumatic arteriovenous fistulas treted at General Surgical Service of Capital Army Hospital during the past two years are presented. The cardinal clinical manifestations and features of this disease together with the results of surgical treatments are discussed with review of literatures.
It is emphasized that the surgical treatment of choice in this complex surgical disease is restoration and maintenance of the vascular continuity.
The changes in cardiac outputs and total blood volume before and after the surgical removal of anomalous communications between arteries and veins have been studied with the use of Cr^(51) in one case and it has been of particular interest clinically.
